Tennis News: What's On

September

31 August

It’s been a great, hot summer and a really good one for social tennis.  To celebrate a series of hugely enjoyable Club Nights and Afternoons this summer, we’re holding a special, sociable, fun TOURNAMENT-FOR-ALL on SUNDAY 23 SEPTEMBER.  Come to the club at 1.30 and join in.  There’ll be a handicap system to ensure that every game’s close.  And as the season of mellow fruitfulness will be upon us, there’ll be an apple-based theme to the refreshments after. YOU DON’T NEED A PARTNER TO ENTER – enter as an individual.  To enter, simply email woodstocktennisclub@gmail.com, saying “yes, I/we want to take part in the Apple Event.”  ENTER NOW!

And although no one will want to think about Christmas yet, here’s an early date for the diary: on FRIDAY 7 DECEMBER join us for our CHRISTMAS QUIZ, the first for ages, with great food (and great questions) and probably live music, too.  So whatever you’re planning in the run-up to Christmas, keep Friday 7th December (7.30) free!  More details soon.

Meanwhile a quick reminder that the NEW TERM’S COACHING is about to start.  There’s an excellent programme on offer for adults as well as juniors.  For all the details of days and times and to book your place, go to http://www.wbtc.org.uk/admin/imgdata/tcoaching/Woodstock%20Autumn%20planner%202018.pdf  (for juniors) and http://www.wbtc.org.uk/adult-coaching.php (for adults).

Talking of juniors, CONGRATULATIONS to our junior member ARTHUR MANSON who’s been in terrific form this summer, winning the Regional Grade 3 U12 Championships at the Oxfordshire Health & Rackets Club and the Grade 3 U12 at the Windsor Open.

We’re busy exploring the installation of COURT LIGHTING at the club.  In recent years, with LEDs, the technology has moved on to make this more directional.  Before we go further, we’re inviting our neighbours to talk about our ideas and together come up with a plan that works for the whole community.  If you’d like to join us for coffee and see the presentation, it’s in the clubhouse on SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 10 – 11 am.  Please let us know you’re coming (so we’ve enough croissants!) by emailing woodstocktennisclub@gmail.com.

A quick reminder to all our members: please remember the club rules about GUESTS.  Members are welcome to bring guests to play at the Club, but no individual guest can play more than three times in a calendar year.  And on each occasion, please pay £3 as a guest fee.  You can either put the money in an envelope (with your name on it) and drop it in the letter box in the door of the club bar, or simply pay by BACS to
